eyes to the sky

I have introduced my husband, Patrick many times on my blogs but I am really excited about this particular blog post.  I recently did an inspiration shoot where my goal was to pick something that inspires me and photograph it.  As corny as this may sound (and yes, it did win me major wife points) I chose my husband.

When I first met Patrick I had to compete with another love…flying.  Through the years, nothing has stood in his way of earning ratings like his instructor, multi-engine, and even sea-plane.  It has been an amazing journey to watch.  This passion he has for flying, airplanes, and airports is unwavering and never ending.  Being around airplanes is his happy place.  I tease him that if he doesn’t fly he gets grouchy and then I know it is time for him to go to the airport and listen to the hum of the engines and feel the tug of the steering column before he is relaxed and at peace again.

His passion is inspiring to me.  It always has been although I must say when we first met, I didn’t quite understand it.  To this day, I am in awe of his ability to fly from Oklahoma to North Carolina in a B36, or rescue dogs and take them to their new foster home.  He has a gift and a love rolled into one.  And I couldn’t be more proud of the amazing pilot he is today.  He constantly lives, with his eyes looking upward at the sky.

Wow, that is inspiring for sure! I love the look and texture of the first one! And I love his intense look of the second picture. Nice job!

Even reading your behind the scenes info I started to well up and then I read the post and it started again. What an amazing inspiration. His love of it really does make you truly understand what passion is all about. I can totally relate to the grouchy feeling. Great job and I can’t wait to see the re-shoot. I guess I will need a box of kleenex then. :-)

Darn that rain! But I too love what you did the DOF for these shots. Looking forward to seeing what you can do at the actual airport too. :)
